  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

You say you are not French, you plead that the language remains a mystery to you. Yet your outlook reaches for the idomatic - that diagonal slant of metaphorical perspective - and your name is Claire Helene...

Pfft! ;)

Claire, did you read the post over at 3Bulls! of my dream? They have a *Celebrity Dream Cameo* thingy they do. If you ever have a dream with a celebrity in it, you email it to Pinko Punko and you are the Featured Celebrity Dream Cameo Dreamer of the week! (or whatever)

Anyway, I had a dream and Barack Obama and Adorable Girlfriend were in it. I couldn't see AG's face. She was represented by a huge *AG* in a courier bold typeface.

Your post reminded me of that!

You do adorable doodles!

:)

The singing turtle is my favorite!

Spam may be annoying, but here I am looking at chickens. This explains one thing to me.
